Who We Are

Community Futures Winnipeg River (CFWR) is an economic development organization serving the North Eastman region of Manitoba. We are a member of Community Futures Manitoba, and are funded mainly by Western Economic Diversification Canada.

CFWR is grassroots driven. We believe in helping communities to help themselves.

CFWR’s goal is to help communities in North Eastman improve their economies. We are here to work with each community on their long-term development plans. We help them pull together the resources to make those plans work. CFWR also offers support to business people in the region.

CFWR has been in operation since 1988. It is run by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The mission of Community Futures Winnipeg River is to serve our member communities in the pursuit of continued growth and prosperity through the support of sustainable economic development opportunities in the North Eastman region of Manitoba.

Awards

Each year, CFWR honours outstanding business clients and community initiatives.

Business of the Year Award

The Business of the Year Award recognizes outstanding efforts by our business clients. People receiving this award have successfully developed their businesses, have clear plans for growth, and model an attitude of commitment and cooperation.

Self Employment Award

The Self Employment Award is presented to people who have demonstrated above average effort and success during their year in the program. They have reached the goals they set. And, they have used innovation, judgment, and skill to deal with problems they faced in their first year of business.

Community Initiative Award

The Community Initiative Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of a community organization to advance a project contributing to the economic development of their community.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to a volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to the economic development efforts of the community.
